Short description:
The Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) is a research, training and teaching institute at BRAC University. IGS'vision is for the government of Bangladesh to enact and implement national policies that result in the improved well-being of the citizens of Bangladesh, or more specifically, improved well-being through good governance. IGS' mission is to identify, promote and support effective, transparent, accountable, equitable, and citizen-friendly government in Bangladesh and South Asia. IGS'motto is "Bringing Value to Public Life." IGS flagship annual publication is "The State of Governance in Bangladesh" report. So far, four such reports have been published. IGS, among other activities, has formulated the National Integrity Strategy (NIS) for Bangladesh in co-ordination with the Government, carried out and published a report for the Ministry of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, titled, "UNCAC - A Bangladesh Compliance and Gap Analysis" (First Edition, January 2008 and Second Edition, July 2008). IGS, through the UNDP Regional Office in Bangkok, has also been providing support to some of the regional and other countries in implementing the UNCAC.
