Short description:
The mission of The Esther Benjamins Memorial Foundation is to rescue, repatriate and rehabilitate Nepal's vulnerable children who have been the victim of trafficking, are from a broken family or from poverty struck family and are at a risk of being trafficked. Our NGO rescues Nepalese children who have been trafficked or displaced into India - including many who were sold into Indian circuses and forced to work as performers. We offer refuge and rehabilitation to rescued children and young people (and sometimes also their siblings) who cannot be returned to their families for fear of being re-trafficked. Our refuges offer access to a full education and a range of vocational training opportunities.
Since its establishment, EBMF has helped rescue nearly 125 children from Indian Circuses alone.
Currently we are providing refuge to nearly 135 children in our refuges and providing educational support to more than 1000 children.
We have also helped trace and convict Human Trafficking agents in Nepal.
