||The establishment of the Community Legal Aid Institute (LBH Masyarakat) was founded on the belief that every member of the community has the ability to actively participate in a human rights movement, as well as to advocate for social change and legal reform. Therefore, the objective of LBH Masyarakat is to ensure that community members are able to and actively participate in legal aid and human rights movement so that they can effectively claim their rights and meaningfully involved in a democratic government. To achieve this objective LBH Masyarakat carries out three main works: providing pro-bono legal aid and undertaking legal empowerment for poor and marginalized people; conducting research, analysis, and policy advocacy; undertaking public campaign.LBH Masyarakat’s areas of work cover legal aid; legal empowerment; legal reform; human rights; criminal justice; drug policy; and, human rights and HIV.|
