Short description:
Arud is a private non-profit organisation in addiction medicine that has been aiming to minimise the harm that drugs can cause to the individual and to society for over 20 years. It runs 4 out-patient clinics, of which two offer heroin-assisted treatments. All 4 centres offer assessments, advice, treatment and therapy for users of all substances (legal and illegal). Of Arud’s 110 employees 30 physicians, psychiatrists, psychotherapists and social workers work closely together to cover all aspects of a person’s individual situation. The NGO is committed to a non-judgemental approach. The primary goal is not abstinence, but survival, improved health and quality of life. Arud has its own research and evaluation department and is actively campaigning for pragmatic and evidence-based drug policies.
