||Health Poverty Action is an international NGO that works to strengthen poor and marginalized people in their struggle for health, and prioritizes those missed out by almost everyone else, including those populations most vulnerable to the impacts of drug policies. HPA is UK-based, with operations in twelve countries, and is funded by UK and EU development agencies, as well as independent foundations.
HPA’s accomplishments include, in the past year, providing medical services to over 900,000 people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America; training over 20,000 health workers, educators, community leaders, and police; and empowering communities to campaign for stronger health systems. HPA has also founded a network of UK and international development NGOs to advocate for development concerns to be included in drug policy, and launched a report in the UK parliament on the intersection between drug policy and development.
