Reprieve Australia stands for a world without the death penalty.
RA arranges opportunities for volunteer lawyers and interns to work in the USA and South East Asia, to provide legal and humanitarian assistance to activists, lawyers and prisoners. RA campaigns and conducts research to raise awareness on death penalty and ensure their local and international partners are equipped with the best support and the latest information.
Since 2001 RA has sent more than 100 interns to capital defense offices in the United States. Recently the Mercy Campaign, an initiative of Reprieve Australia’s, attracted more than 200,000 signatures to a petition respectfully asking the Indonesian President to show clemency to those facing the death penalty for drug crimes, including recently executed Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.
