In Nigeria, the Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on anti-corruption in partnership with UNDP and UNODC hosted a high level event to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption day 2012 with the national theme "ACT… Help Detect Corruption Risks Today". The event took place on Monday 10th December and provided an opportunity for the heads of anti-corruption agencies to educate participants and members of the public on their mandates and contributions to the fight against corruption in Nigeria. The event also provided an opportunity for them to receive and respond to suggestions, recommendations, questions and burning issues raised by participants in the course of the meeting. The national event had a strong focus on the younger generation who were well represented by secondary school students and members of the National Youth service Corp (NYSC). In the build up to the grand finale event, a sub-national event took place from 3 rd to 5 th December in Ibadan, Oyo State and included a rally and town hall meeting to engage with sub-national and grass root level stakeholders on the anti-corruption campaign. Other related activities included: 1) A media parley was aired on national television, NTA, on 4 th December 2012 involving anti-corruption agencies and civil society together with UNDP; 2) A youth essay writing competition on the topic "Corruption as a Cankerworm to Development: Nigeria as a Case Study". 3) Secondary school debate tournaments were held on various topics revolving around corruption and development in Nigeria. The grand finals of the debate tournament took place at the national event along with the presentation of prizes.
