On 2 - 3 October 2023, the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (CARICC) held a Meeting of Experts, followed by a regular session of the Council of National Coordinators of CARICC Member States on 4 October. Organized with support from the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia, these events took place at CARICC's headquarters in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
During the session, representatives from Member States assessed several key areas of CARICC's activities, including:
The progress of Member States in finalizing the Agreement on the Exchange and Protection of Classified Information within CARICC.
Review of draft rules concerning the CARICC budgetary process and the financial responsibilities of Member States.
Evaluation of the draft CARICC Development Strategy for 2023-2027.
Following the discussions, Council members formulated recommendations and strategies to enhance CARICC's self-sustainability.
