Access to Controlled Medicines: Perspectives of Integrated Management in the Supply Chain.

The Directorate of Pharmacies and Drugs of the Ministry of Health, the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Panama, and UNODC, recently held the workshop "Perspective of Integral Management in the Supply Chain for Controlled Medicines".
The objective of the event was to map the processes in the supply chain of controlled substances and strengthen access mechanisms.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Javier López, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health. It was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Health, the Social Security Fund, governmental and private sector pharmacists, the Chamber of Commerce, and civil society.
UNODC supports these activities in the framework of the "Global Program of Access to Controlled Drugs for Medical Purposes" that it develops in conjunction with the World Health Organization, and whose main objective is to increase access to controlled drugs for medical purposes, while both the control over the abuse and the prevention of their deviation are strengthened.
