Airport officials are trained in illicit traffic through air cargo and courier

Panama, 29 May 2020. The UNODC-WCO-INTERPOL Airport Communication Project delivered a training on Illicit Traffic through Air Cargo and Courier from 27 to 29 May.

This eleven-hour training was attended by 120 AIRCOP units and airport law enforcement officials from more than ten countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Air cargo inspection, flora and fauna trafficking, arms trafficking and artwork trafficking were some of the topics covered by the experts.
AIRCOP is a multi-agency project based on the cooperation between UNODC, INTERPOL and the World Customs Organisations (WCO) that aimed at strengthening the capacities of participating international airports to detect and intercept drugs, other illicit goods and high-risk passengers in both origin, transit and destination countries with the overall objective of disrupting the illegal criminal networks.
