Combating corruption in the General Customs Directorate of El Salvador
San Salvador, September 9 of 2016. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), provided a training in the "Workshop- Diagnosis and Integrity in the General Customs Directorate of El Salvador, in the framework of the visit of the delegates of the World Health Organization (WCO)".
Monica Mendoza, Head of Country Office of UNODC, developed the conference entitled "Challenges in Customs, fight against corruption", highlighting the importance of the of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC ) and the role that customs have in the country's results.
The workshop was attended by Carlos Cativo, Director General of Customs; Alvaro Fernandez and Diego Juanicotenea Grasso, Delegates of the World Customs Organization; and Roland von Frankenhorst , from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The meeting between experts and members of the Commission for Trade Facilitation in El Salvador, had the results to sensitize the role of customs facing cases of corruption and improving the procedures and processes developed at customs.
