Course "Disappeared persons and best practices in the approach to the victim" in El Salvador

San Salvador, June 30, 2022. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is providing the course "Disappeared persons and good practices in the approach to the victim" in the framework of the project "Strengthening the implementation of management tools for cases of disappearances and torture linked to organized crime, affecting women, men and youth in El Salvador" (2020-2023), funded by the Government of Canada.

This course is aimed at 125 officers of the National Civil Police of El Salvador who belong to the various Offices of Complaints and Citizen Attention at the national level with the purpose of strengthening the capacities of attention to victims promoting the dignified treatment, respect for their rights and the comprehensive response to this crime.

During the training, good practices in the reception of complaints are developed based on international and national standards including the Urgent Action Protocol (PAU) and the Search Strategy for Disappeared Persons of El Salvador. The course also strengthens knowledge in the application of the crime of disappeared persons and enforced disappearance.
