Criminal Analysis Specialization for the National Civil Police

Guatemala City, May 6, 2019. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) through its office in Guatemala, officially opened the Criminal Analysis Specialization, within the Project "Increasing access for women, children and indigenous people to justice". The objectives of the specialization is to strengthen the capacity of Criminal Analysis of the National Civil Police for connecting cases, identification of criminal phenomena and contribute to criminal prosecution.

The curriculum was developed in a participative methodology for over a month with high qualified analysts of the Sub Directorate of Criminal Investigation of National Civil Police and two experts in criminal analysis of UNODC. The study program was developed between the Police School for Specialties, Department of Education and Doctrine, Planning Department and the Department of Analysis and Statistics of the Criminal Investigation Division with technical assistance of UNODC.

The Criminal Analysis Specialization was aimed at 41 officials of the Specialized Division of Criminal Investigations and it took place from May 6 to June 14 with 8 specialized professors on each topic for a duration of 240 hours-credits.

The specialization will be developed through the generous support of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
