The workshop, delivered by experts from UNODC and Canada, as well as officials from the Dominican Republic and Panama previously trained by UNODC, gathered 20 civil servants from different institutions such as the Office of the Attorney-General, the National Police, and International Mission for Justice (NGO).
Topics addressed during the workshop included but were not limited to: international legal framework; anti-human trafficking manual for criminal justice practitioners; criminal legal definition of human trafficking in the Dominican Republic and Panama; Migrant smuggling; successful cases of investigation and prosecution of TIP cases in both countries; profiles of victims and traffickers; psychological reactions of the victims of human trafficking (interviews to the victims). Additionally, a practical activity about techniques of joint investigation and international cooperation in human trafficking cases was conducted.
