First Webinar in Investigations Involving Online Platforms in El Salvador

El Salvador, 21 April 2021. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN), through the Global Programme on Cybercrime, delivered a webinar addressed to Salvadoran prosecutors in leading investigations involving the acquisition and analysis of evidence found in online platforms. The webinar took place from 19 to 20 April 2021.
The objective of this four-hour webinar was to explain the techniques and tools that investigators apply to identify, obtain, and analyse evidence found in online platforms such as social media, search engines and online markets.
Furthermore, the Head of El Salvador Police Cybercrime Unit delivered a presentation about specialized actions performed by this unit when investigating in the cyberspace.
Additionally, the team of UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime deliver two presentation. One presentation in how digital forensics complements investigative actions in the cyberspace. The other presentation in engaging with foreign technological companies in the context of investigations.
This webinar has been made possible thanks to the coordination with El Salvador Prosecutors’ School and the Police Cybercrime Unit. As well as the funding from the Canadian government to the UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime.
