Global Maritime Crime Programme delivered webinar on new challenges in conducting its operations

Barbados, 15 May 2020. The Global Maritime Crime Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean in conjunction with the Atlantic Ocean team delivered a webinar on the impact of COVID-19 on the conduct of operations against maritime crime.

The online conference was attended by 120 representatives of maritime security agencies from different countries in West Africa and the Caribbean region. In addition, there were specialist speakers from the World Health Organization, as well as experts from ECOWAS and the representative of UNODC Nigeria.

Participants from different agencies had the opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices in managing maritime operations during the COVID-19 pandemic in their respective countries.

The Global Programme against Maritime Crime will continue its work using technology to strengthen the member states' capacities to conduct their operations against crimes at sea.
