Hilton Hotel joins Blue Heart Campaign

5 th October, 2016. On September 30 th took place the Hilton Hotel´s Act of Accession to the Blue Heart Campaign, event part of "September: Month against Human Trafficking" movement. The act was attended by Mr. Ignacio Gonzalez, Waldorf Astoria and Hilton Panama Manager, Mr. Rodrigo Garcia, National Commission of Human Trafficking General Secretariat and Mr. Olivier Inizan, UNODC Deputy Regional Representative for Central America and the Caribbean.

During the act, Hilton Hotel Manager showed his willingness to cooperate actively in the struggle against Human Trafficking throughout the different Blue Heart Campaign activities, with particular emphasis in the necessity to work together with the different public and private institutions, in the awareness and prevention of this crime.

The joining act ended with the signature of the Blue Heart Agreement, which entails respect of 11 social responsibility rules against Human Trafficking. With the agreement's signature the act was terminated but not without before the authorities highlighted the importance to make our individual contribution in the Trafficking in Persons Struggle.

After the act was carried out, a Training Workshop for Hilton Hotel staff that was attended by National Police and Procurator- General Office experts, who informed the Hotel Staff about the different technics to detect potential cases of Human Trafficking, alongside the Security Protocols to be followed in case of their detection.

UNODC firmly believes that a coordinated work among national, regional and international organizations is key in order to build solid, proactive and self-sufficient institutions in Central America and the Carribean.
