Panama and UNODC join forces in the identification of victims of Trafficking in Persons

30-31 July, 2018. Panama City. In the context of the International Day against Human Trafficking and the project PANW02, the UNODC Regional Office for Central America and the Caribbean, in close coordination with the National Commission against Trafficking in Persons of the Republic of Panama, delivered a training workshop in the Tocúmen International Airport, with a view to strengthening the skills and knowledge of civil servants and personnel of national and international airlines working in the airport to identify and report potential cases of human trafficking.

31 officials from the Atorney-General's Office, the National Police, the National Migration Service, Customs, and members of the personnel of the International Tocúmen Airport and some of the airlines operating in the premises, participated in this activity.

The training workshop was delivered by experts from UNODC, and the Attorney-General's Office and National Police of Panama, who addressed aspects related to the national and international legal frameworks; basic TIP concepts; profiling, interviewing and provision of assistance to victims; and the analysis of real cases.
