Seminar on human trafficking and smuggling of migrants addressed to maritime security officials in the Caribbean
Barbados, 30 September 2020. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, through the Global Programme on Maritime Crime in the Caribbean, delivered the webinar “Trafficking in Person and Smuggling of Migrants”, previous to the Caribbean Forum on Maritime Crime.
Fifty officials from 20 countries in the region participated in this training.
Some of the topics discussed were “Considerations for and approaches to addressing illicit smuggling of Migrants by Sea in the Caribbean”; “Trafficking in Person by Sea in the Eastern Caribbean and legal finish”, “Influx from Venezuela by sea –routes and trends”; “The Case of the Dutch Caribbean region” and “High risk passage – Colombia to Panama, Extracontinental migration”.
