Seminar Public Health in Panama's Prison System

Within the framework of the SECOPA Project, implemented by UNODC with the financial support of the European Union, was held the Second Seminar on "Public Health in Prisons", aimed at managers and administrative personnel of prisons, as well as medical staff and national police officers working in prison facilites.

The seminar was held in collaboration of the Ministry of Government and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), whose experts in areas such as health, sanitation, hygiene, water and food, shared their knowledge and experience in the provision of health services to people deprived of liberty.

The objective of the seminar was to promote the integration of different stakeholders to facilitate the planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of health care activities provided to the prison population.

The event took place on 3 and 4 October 2016 in Panama City and was closed by the Director General of the Prison System, Mr. Mario Chang; Head of the Prison Training Academy, Ms. Gisell Castillo; and the Representative of the Regional Delegation of the ICRC in Panama, Mr. Nicolas Bonvin.
