Support for victims of human trafficking in Panama

Panama, May 4, 2020. The Project "Construction of a shelter for victims of human trafficking" of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC ROPAN) delivered 168 bags of food to the Ministry of Security and the National Commission against Human Trafficking to be distributed among 28 victims of this crime and their families.

UNODC supports the Member States in protecting the rights of victims of human trafficking.

According to the UNODC World Report on Trafficking in Persons presented in January 2019, this is the third most lucrative business for organized crime and every year millions

of people fall into its criminal networks, mainly women and girls who account for 72% of the victims of this crime.
