The Project of Consolidation of the Criminal Procedure Reform in Panama and Judicial Authority of Panama carry out workshops on the Public Defense of Victims of Crime
The Project of "Consolidation of the Criminal Procedure Reform in Panama" from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean in Panama (UNODC ROPAN), with the support of the Office of Implementation of the Adversarial Criminal System, of the Judicial Authority of Panama, held a workshop on Regulation of the Department of Legal Assistance for Victims of Crimes at the Tryp Hotel in Panama city, on March 29, 2016.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Panama, José Ayú Prado Canals, addressed the first words to the magistrates, judges, public defenders and public defenders of victims, who during the day introduced the latest recommendations to document regulation, enriching its content, which will be subject to the approval of the Fourth Chamber of the Supreme Court.
Efforts have been made by the Project to contribute to the effective participation of victims in the criminal proceedings in Panama, proposing a regulation to nationally organize the Department of Legal Assistance for Victims of Crimes and allowed users and the lawyers themselves, to know in advance what procedure to follow.
