Training in Investigation and Prosecution of Cybercrime against Children in El Salvador
El Salvador, 27 July 2020. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) through the Global Programme on Cybercrime delivered a training for prosecutors on cybercrime against children.
The objective of this three-week training was to develop prosecutors’ skills to effectively lead criminal investigations and prosecute cases that involve the use of digital technologies to affect children, especially cases of online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Different topics such as cybercrime law, digital evidence, cryptocurrency, international cooperation mechanisms, and organized cybercrime were developed.
The training concluded with a mock trial where prosecutors’ knowledge and skills were applied in a real-life scenario.
This training has been made possible thanks to the funding from the Canadian and Norwegian governments to the UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime.
