Training on the phenomenon of police misconduct and corruption in El Salvador

San Salvador, February 17, 2021. The technical team of El Salvador of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) delivered the training "The phenomenon of police conduct and corruption", addressed to 50 officers (1 chief inspector, 2 inspectors, 3 sub-inspectors, 8 sergeants, 15 corporals, 20 agents and 1 administrative; 43 men and 7 women) belonging to the Control Unit of the National Civil Police of the headquarters in San Salvador (Central Zone) and regional sections in Santa Ana (Western Zone), San Vicente (Paracentral Zone) and San Miguel (Eastern Zone).

The main topics addressed were: discipline, ethics, police conduct, deviant conduct, corruption and deviant conduct.

The objective of the training was to explain the phenomenon of police conduct and its relationship with corruption. The day was aimed at strengthening the capacities of the human talent of the Control Unit, which is the unit in charge of verifying all police procedures and operations.
