Transfer of the Regional Court of Llano Tugrí, in the Ngabe Buglé Region, to the Judicial Branch of Panama

Panama, 16 December, 2020. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN), through the Project to Consolidate the Criminal Procedure Reform in Panama, transferred the building of the Regional Court of Llano Tugrí, in the Comarca Ngabe Buglé, province of Chiriquí, to the Judicial Branch.

This building will contribute to the implementation of the Adversarial Criminal System in the Republic of Panama, through the strengthening of the administration of justice, so that this procedural change is implemented nationwide; using the new management model that involves the construction of an adequate infrastructure to house the judicial offices and allow its operation through a method of separation of administrative and judicial tasks.

The Regional Court of Llano Tugrí will provide judicial services to the population located in this remote area, who often, due to economic, geographic, cultural and linguistic barriers, face challenges in obtaining justice.
