UNODC, UNICEF and ICMEC Coordinate Efforts to Increase Regional Capabilities in the Fight against Online Children and Adolescents Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

San Salvador, March 11 th, 2016 - The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in coordination with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) and UNICEF, supported by the global initiative #WeProtect, from the United Kingdom, developed the Regional Training "Together for a Protected Childhood, Combating Technology-Facilitated Child Sexual Abuse: Combating Sexual Abuse Online", from March 9 to 11, 2016 in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The training was provided to delegations from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panamá and the Dominican Republic, composed by 71 members of polices, attorney general offices and judiciary of the region, as well as governmental institutions responsible of  protecting children and adolescents' rights.

The training was developed by international experts from different institutions such as the U.S. Marshals Services, the Federal Police of Brazil; Warren Bulmer, Canada Police, ICMEC, Federal Police of Norway and ICE.

This conference had the financial support of the initiative #WePROTECT of the United Kingdom.
