UNODC and INTERPOL Strengthen El Salvador National Civil Police Capacities to Investigate Cybercrime

San Salvador, March 27, 2017. United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), in the framework of the activities corresponding to the component of institutional capacity building of the project "Strengthening of the Capacities of El Salvador National Civil Police in the Effective Investigation and Investigation of Cybercrime Cases in El Salvador", inaugurated the "Basic Training in Victims Identification". This training will take place on March 27 and 28, 2917, in the facilities of INTERPOL Sub-Regional Office for Central America in San Salvador.

The objective of this training is to strengthen Cybercrime Unit's investigators capacities to identify victims of child sexual abuse and exploitation facilitated by information and communication technologies. This training is developed by INTERPOL-Lyon Officers Mrs. Gabriela Javiera Chamorro Concha and Julián Millán Platero.

As a result of this activity, El Salvador National Civil Police will increase its investigative capacities, through learning new digital platforms and tools, to identify with more agility and accuracy children and adolescents victims of cybercrime.

This activity is developed thanks to the generous financial support provided by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) of the Embassy of the United States in El Salvador, by supporting UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime national project in El Salvador.
