UNODC and the Ministry of Education of Panama expand the Strengthening Family Prevention Program to the province of Chiriqui

From 18 to 21 October, UNODC has trained 27 facilitators, in the Strengthening Family Prevention Program. The professionals belong to the psycho-pedagogic offices of the Ministry of Education in the province of Chiriquí. This training has been conducted in coordination with the National Psycho-Educational Services of the Ministry. In this way, the program is extended to a new province; UNODC has trained facilitators from the provinces of Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas during 2915.

This evidence based prevention program seeks to strengthen parenting skills for the parents and life skills for the adolescents, in order to prevent risky behaviors such as drug use, and crime.

The new facilitators belonging to the disciplines of psychology, education and social work and they will implement the program in elementary and high schools of Chiriquí.
