The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) fulfilling its commitment to strengthen El Salvador capacities to effectively combat cybercrime, implemented the Training on mobile forensics and UFED-Cellebrite introduction. The training was delivered to 35 law enforcement investigators and digital forensic examiners of El Salvador National Civil Police (PNC). The training was held from 3 to 5 October, 2016, at Crown Plaza Hotel on San Salvador City.

PNC designated personnel of the Cybercrime Unit, the Division of Scientific and Technical Section of Technologic Crimes, the Division of Borders, the Specialized Unit against Trafficking in Persons and Related Crimes and the Transnational Unit. The aim of the training was to increase PNC capacities to extract digital evidence stored on mobile digital devices.

The workshop was delivered by Mr. Alejandro Leal and Josué Medrano, of International Trademarks Distribution, company with exclusive rights to distribute, support and maintain Cellebrite UFED solutions in El Salvador.

The training was implemented thanks to the financial resources provided by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the Embassy of the United States in El Salvador, under the project "Strengthening of the capacities of El Salvador National Police to effectively identify and investigate cybercrime cases", which implemented by UNODC.
