UNODC delivers protective equipment for frontline personnel of the General Directorate of Penal Centres in El Salvador

San Salvador, August 12, 2020. In these difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) continues to focus on providing vital assistance to those in need, especially the most vulnerable actors.


In the context of the Global Programme for the Implementation of Doha, specifically the "Second Chance" Programme, a donation of personal protection equipment will be made to frontline officials working in the Directorate General of Penal Centres. This effort is being financed by the Embassy of Qatar.
Officials in contact with prisoners must enjoy quality health care equivalent to that available in the community and must have access to the necessary health care services free of charge, without discrimination on the basis of their legal status.
