UNODC developed a Training on Traffic Control of Drugs, Substances and Chemical Precursors
Cartagena, July 1st, 2019. With the aim of improving the analysis capacity of the institutions, the Second Training Session on the Control of Drug Trafficking - Substances and Chemical Precursors was held in the city of Cartagena, Colombia, within the framework of the Project "Strengthening the institutional capacity to improve control of drug trafficking and chemical precursors in Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica and El Salvador)", an initiative of UNODC Colombia in coordination with UNODC-ROPAN and UNODC-POSAL.
During the training, the following subjects were developed: Criminal Investigation, Control of Substances and Chemical Precursors, Chemical Precursors Research Methodology, Interdiction in Ports and Airports and Construction of the Criminal Interdiction Model. From the material and knowledge imparted, two practical exercises were carried out with the participation of all the assistants. The workshops were facilitated by different experts in the thematic areas, such as: MY Jaime Enrique Higgins, the CT Darlyn Andrés Marín and ST Oscar Alfredo Ochoa, all from the Anti-Narcotics Directorate (DIRAN) of the Colombian National Police. As well as from Tc (r) Miguel Tujano expert from UNODC.
The event had the participation of different institutions, such as: General Prosecutor's Office, National Civil Police, Armed Forces, General Directorate of Customs, General Directorate of Migration and Immigration, General Directorate of Drugs, Port Maritime Authority and Autonomous Port Executive Commission.
