UNODC facilitated the "Review Workshop Reforms on The Law of Victim and Witnesses", addressed to prosecutors, judges, polices and entities of the justice sectors
San Salvador, 28 september of 2016. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in conjunction with the Executive Technical Unit facilitated the "Review Workshop Reforms on the Law of Victim and Witnesses", addressed to prosecutors, judges, polices and entities justice sector on 20 and 21 September.
Both days counted with a presentation by Sara Arce, Director of the Protection Program of Victims and Witnesses in Costa Rica, who conveyed the good practices and lessons learned from the experience of Costa Rica in addressing the protection of victims and witnesses, as well as the application of provisional measures to whistleblowers in corruption cases.
The workshop aimed to develop proposals to strengthen the effectiveness of the measures of protection and care according to the Special Law for the Protection of Victims and Witnesses and its regulations, joining efforts with institutions in the sector of Justice, in combating crime.
The Workshop was attended by prosecutors, judges, polices and people working in the justice sector, who in working groups developed proposals to improve operational functionality of the aforementioned law and identified the institutions that provide care for victims and their modalities in the justice sector institutions in order to prevent corruption offenses.
