UNODC Helps Fight Migrant Smuggling in Guatemala

Guatemala, 14 February, 2020. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) conducted an operational course in the detection, investigation and prosecution of cases of smuggling of migrants for law enforcement officers in Guatemala.

The training was held in the town of Chiquimula, located on the border with El Salvador, and was a hands-on workshop attended by 40 officials, including investigators from the Guatemalan National Civil Police, judges and prosecutors from the Public Prosecutor's Office.

This workshop was part of the UNODC Global Program Against Trafficking in Persons which is sponsored by the Government of Sweden.
