UNODC held the Crime Theory Workshop in commemoration of the International Day Against Corruption and 15 years after the adoption of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

On the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day against Corruption and 15 years anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime held a Crime Theory workshop which opened with a session entitled "Strengthening judicial capacities through analysis of the corruption criminal offenses types under the United Nations Convention against Corruption" by Mrs Grisell Mojica, coordinator of the CRIMJUST project.
During the session, the importance of the international legal framework was highlighted, mentioning the outstanding aspects of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption as well as the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the United Nations Convention against corruption, the latter being the quasi-universal tool in the fight against corruption thus facilitating international cooperation among the states parties and enabling asset recovery. In turn, the different types criminal offenses under the UNCAC were examined, also highlighting the importance of prevention through corruption risk analysis as a measure to strengthen institutions.
This session was attended by 25 officials of the Judicial Branch and the Prosecutors Office, including: guarantee judges s, judges of appeals courts, judges of trial courts, judges of compliance and prosecutors. The event also had the participation of Dr. Ivan Meini, international consultant and Mrs. Flor Pinzón coordinator of the project to consolidate the criminal procedural reform in Panama.
