UNODC implemented a raising awareness workshop in matters of human trafficking in persons for El Salvador government institutional communicators
San Salvador, El Salvador; 31 October, 2017. UNODC and the National Council Against Trafficking in Persons within the framework of the Project "Preventing and Combatting the Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons in El Salvador organized an awareness-raising workshop on trafficking in persons matters for Salvadoran Government's institutional communicators.
In this workshop, several experts provided presentations on what constitutes trafficking in persons and victims' care, among them Ms. Silma Escalante from National Council against Trafficking in Persons and Mr. Roque Guerra from the Office of Victims Attention shared their insights.
Additionally, as a result of the important collaboration of Operation Blessing, the participants were able to gain a deeper understanding of trafficking in persons victims by using googles to experience in virtual reality cases based on real life situations.
The workshop was developed thanks to the generous financial resources provided by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the Embassy of the United States in El Salvador under the project "Preventing and Fighting against Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons Project in El Salvador ", implemented by UNODC Programme Office for El Salvador.
