UNODC implements carries the Workshop entitled "Extradition and International Legal Cooperation", addressed to judges and justice sector
San Salvador, 28 september of 2016. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in conjunction with the Supreme Court facilitated the Legislative Assistance Workshop entitled: "Draft Law on Extradition and International Legal Cooperation", which took place on 22 and 23 september of 2016.
Both days counted with presentations by Monica Mendoza, Head Country Office of UNODC, Karina Burgos Olivares, Coordinator of the Habeas Corpus, Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, and Hector Adolfo Alfaro, Legal Assistant of the Legal International Unit of the Supreme Court
In the workshop, a model of extradition law (UN 2004) was studied, an overview of the legal basis for extradition definitions was discussed, Jurisprudence comments on Habeas Corpus, linked to extradition proceedings and extradition proceedings explained in El Salvador, were presented.
The Workshop was attended by judges and people working in the justice sector, who together made a revision of the Law on Extradition and according to their experience and knowledge accomodated legislative drafting for better functionality of it as concepts and procedures.
