UNODC participates in the symposium "United against Corruption" organized by the International Chamber of Commerce - Panama Chapter
On 12 December 2017, the Regional Anticorruption Academy for Central America and the Caribbean (ARAC) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) attended the "Unite against Corruption" conference, organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) - Panama Chapter, in Panama City, Republic of Panama.
ICC's representatives of Panama, Mexico and Guatemala participated in the event, as well as the Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP), the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE) and the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP); the Executive Director of Transparency International Panama; the Director of Transfer Prices of BDO for Central America and the President of Horacio Icaza&Co. were also panellists at the event.
During the activity, the phenomenon of corruption was analyzed from the perspective of the private sector. Furthermore, participants proposed anti-corruption good practices and mechanisms that could be implemented jointly, at the national level.
The presentation of ARAC / UNODC by Cristina Ritter, Legal Expert, focused on the progress of Panama in anti-corruption matters. The symposium was attended by approximately twenty-five (25) participants from the private sector.
