UNODC Prevent Cyber Crime in El Salvador
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and its strategic allies produced three documents on cybercrime prevention, with the purpose of increasing public knowledge on the threats posed by cybercrime and ways to prevent becoming victim of this type of crime. The elaboration of these documents is executed in the context of the project "Strengthening of the capacities of El Salvador National Police to effectively identify and investigate cybercrime cases," which is implemented by UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime. The prevention graphic material digitally and physically disseminated through social networking sites and workshops and trainings in schools and public institutions.
The first document entitled "CIBER CAMPAMENTO 2.0 ¡La aventura segura en internet!", sets up an scenario full of adventures and characters that seek to educate children and adolescents in an entertaining manner, in order to make them able to recognize and avoid the dangers and threats found online, in this sense, Cyber Campament teaches children and adolescents to safely navigate online and to make a responsibly use of the internet.
The second document entitled "Protejamos a niños, niñas y adolescentes de la violencia, abuso y explotación sexual en internet", is oriented to adults. This document explain the dangers found on the internet and give advices to adults on how to protect children from this dangers, it also provides a telephone directory of law enforcement agencies that they reach when a cybercrime is committed.
The third document entitled MINI GUÍA DE SEGURIDAD EN INTERNET ¡Todo lo que tienes que saber!, is addressed to children and adolescents, this guide explains about various dangers that can be found on the Internet, and advices on the appropriate ways to address each of them. The guide also promotes good use of the internet and gives recommendations on the appropriate use of digital devices.
