UNODC Promotes Prevention against Cybercrime at National Level in El Salvador
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with El Salvador Ministry of Education (MINED) and
Cuenterete Teatro (Theater Company) and
Canal 10 (Channel 10, National Television Network), recorded the puppet play "The Faces of Cybercrime", which will be broadcasted in different occasions in Channel 10.
The puppet play was recorded on May 4, before 13 children, in the T.V. Show "The Child's Hour". The purpose of recording the puppet play is to sensitize Salvadoran population on the threats that may be found on the Internet and the mechanisms to prevent becoming a victim of cybercrime, in an entertaining and an educative manner. "The Faces of Cybercrime" is a play structured around reality-based situations in which children face threats that can be found on the day-to-day usage of internet and digital mobile devices. Additionally, During this presentation, UNODC delivered a Mini Guide on Online Security was delivered to the audiencie. This Mini Guide which teaches graphically basic terminology on cybercrime and online security.
The presentation was developed thanks to the generous financial resources provided by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the Embassy of the United States in El Salvador under the project "Strengthening of the capacities of El Salvador National Police to effectively identify and investigate cybercrime cases", which is being implemented by UNODC Global Programme on Cybercrime.
