UNODC signed the memorandum of understanding for the Container Control Programme (CCP)
San Salvador, 6 october of 2016. Yesterday, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) together with the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, the Executive Director of the National Anti-Drug Commission, the National Director of Medicines, the President of the Autonomous Executive Port Commission and with the Canadian Ambassador, as an honor witness, signed the memorandum of understanding for the Container Control Programme CCP.
The main objective of this program will be to support El Salvador for a more expeditious and secure trade through an objective and scientific analysis of containerized cargoes in order to;
- Combat drug trafficking, which has a significant contribution in terms of improving public safety and reducing organized crime.
- Countering smuggling and tax fraud, increasing revenues by the state.
- Control counterfeit brand, which is classified as a crime of intellectual property and affects licit and formal business enterprises established in the country and the region.
- Not forgetting the control of environmental issues, as this program throughout the years has achieved multiple seizures of timber and protected species, which contributes to environmental conservation.
This translates into a direct support for the country so that this further consolidates its logistics and port activities, strengthening exports through safety management in line with the demands of modern times.
