Workshops under the "Essential Services Package for women and girls who suffer violence"
The Essential Services Package is derived from the agreements emanating from the 57th Session of the Commission on the Women´s Status, which establishes a route to assist countries and implements international commitments to eliminate violence against women and girls, it´s specified in the components defined in the framework of a coordinated multisectoral response to address violence against women and girls. The Essential Services Package offers the Module 3 Judicial and Police Services and UNODC gives technical assistance to the National Civil Police (PNC).
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Central America and the Caribbean (UNODC ROPAN) carried out, within the framework of the "Essential Services Package" (PSE) Project, during January and February 2018, three workshops in compliance with the guidelines of Module 3 Judicial and Police Services. The workshops seek to strengthen Prevention, Initial Contact and Criminal Investigation capabilities of the National Civil Police.
The workshops developed were: " Specialized Criminal Investigation Model for Investigation of Violence Against Women cases", addressed to the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation (DEIC), the workshop "Trainer of Trainers for the DAV system Strengthening ", addressed to the Victim Assistance Department (DAV); and the "Needs and challenges diagnosis in prevention of violence against women", addressed to the Prevention Subdirectorate.
The workshop " Specialized Criminal Investigation Model for Investigation of Violence cases against Women", addressed to the Specialized Division in Criminal Investigation (DEIC PNC) seeks to stablish the institutional framework for the creation of a protocol for criminal investigation on Violence Against Women.
For its part, the workshop "Trainer of Trainers for the Strengthening of the DAV-UNODC System", addressed to the Department of Victim Assistance (DAV PNC), was carried for the strengthening of the DAV system.
Finally, the workshop "Diagnosis of needs and challenges in prevention of violence against women", addressed for the Sub-Direction of Prevention personnel, is a first step to develop a curriculum and training processes for police officers for the prevention of Violence Against Women.
