Extraordinary sessions of the subsidiary bodies of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs Vienna, Virtual Meeting, 1-2 October 2020

Given that the situation in different parts of the world with regard to COVID-19 pandemic is difficult to predict, and considering that there were substantial challenges in holding the meetings of the subsidiary bodies in 2020 in person, special extraordinary sessions of the CND subsidiary bodies (HONLAF, HONLAC, HONLAP and Subcommission) took place on 1-2 October 2020 in a virtual manner and a scaled-down format, with the next regular sessions of the subsidiary bodies to be held in 2021.

Provisional agenda

1 October 2020

1. Opening of the session and adoption of the agenda.

2. Current situation with respect to addressing and countering the world drug problem in the light of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) (in all 6 UN languages).

3. Meetings of the subsidiary bodies of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs:

(a) Meeting of Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Latin America and the Caribbean (in English, Spanish and French):

      (i)  Opening;

      (ii) Discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on the regional drug situation from a law   enforcement perspective;

2 October 2020

(b) Meeting of Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Asia and the Pacific (in English):

      (i)  Opening;

      (ii) Discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on the regional drug situation from a law enforcement perspective;

(c) Subcommission on Illicit Drug Traffic and Related Matters in the Near and Middle East (in English, Russian and Arabic):

      (i)  Opening;

      (ii) Discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on the regional drug situation from a law enforcement perspective;

(d) Meeting of Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Africa (in English, French and Arabic):

      (i)  Opening;

      (ii) Discussion on the impact of COVID-19 on the regional drug situation from a law enforcement perspective.

4. Closure of the session (in all 6 United Nations languages).
