The 2013 World Drug Report was launched in Vienna on 26 June, on the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, in a special event that took place within the framework of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
At the special event, key data and findings contained in the 2013 World Drug Report were presented and an opportunity to provide comments and exchange views was given to participants, who included high-level and senior representatives of United Nations Member States as well as representatives of international and regional organizations and of non-governmental organizations with ECOSOC Consultative Status.
It is expected that the discussions held at the event will feed into the intersessional preparatory process for the 2014 high-level review, to be conducted by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, on progress made by Member States in implementing the Political Declaration and Plan of Action on International Cooperation towards an Integrated and Balanced Strategy to Counter the World Drug Problem.
