ONE-DAY SPECIAL FORUM ON SCALING UP THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL DRUG POLICY COMMITMENTS ON IMPROVING AVAILABILITY OF AND ACCESS TO CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES FOR MEDICAL AND SCIENTIFIC PURPOSES #NOPATIENTLEFTBEHIND

The CND Chair's initiative on scaling up the implementation of international drug policy commitments on improving availability and access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes culminated in the One-Day Special Forum on 10 October 2022, which dedicated a day to discussing and raising awareness for the global crisis of lack of access to controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes. The forum promoted discussion on the challenges faced in ensuring availability and access to controlled medicines, and the sharing of good practices and strategies to support the implementation of the international drug policy commitments on improving availability and access.

The One-Day Special Forum kicked off with a high-level opening and the launch of the Secretariat's e-learning tool, followed by two Davos-style panel discussions. The panel discussions were moderated by the Chair of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at its 65^th session, H.E. Ambassador Ghislain D'Hoop, and featured an array of experts from different stakeholder groups, including Member States, the United Nations, academia and civil society. Audience members engaged in Q&A sessions with the experts, and contributed to the discussions by sharing good practices and strategies in improving availability and access. #NoPatientLeftBehind
