On 13 October 2021, UNODC through its Global Firearms Programme (GFP), facilitated a workshop with the Working Group (WG) under the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro with the objective to review the progress towards harmonizing the Criminal Code with the criminalization provisions of the UN Firearms Protocol.
The participants have discussed UNODC’s legislative gap analysis, issue paper on special investigative measures, and the findings from UNODC’s case law compilation on firearms offences. The WG members have identified specific issues for harmonization, including the criminalization of activities carried out with firearms parts, and have identified a deadline by mid-November 2021 to finalize the draft criminal provisions.
This activity is implemented with the financial support provided by Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway through the Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap Trust Fund and supported by the European Union.
