On 25 September 2024, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through its Global Firearms Programme (GFP), organized a workshop on the identification, investigation, and prosecution of firearms-related offenses, as well as the coordination of law enforcement agency (LEA) activities. The event took place in Lutsk, Volyn Region, Ukraine. The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance participants' specialized knowledge in countering illicit arms flows.
During the workshop, prosecutors and law enforcement officials addressed practical issues related to improving interdepartmental cooperation and strengthening capacities in identifying, investigating, and prosecuting firearms-related offenses. Additionally, the discussion covered investigative techniques and operative-search activities in this field. The workshop also explored topics concerning international and national legal frameworks governing the circulation of firearms and ammunition, as well as the procedures for the seizure of firearms and ammunition, and the implementation of safety measures.
This activity was made possible with generous support from the Federal Republic of Germany.
