The United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are proud to announce the launch of the UNOV/UNODC Gender Award. Based on nominations received from UNOV/UNODC colleagues, the Award will recognize high-impact projects, policies, programmes, strategies and practices, by either a team or individuals at Headquarters and in the Field Offices.
It is presented in two categories:
to recognize efforts in strengthening a diverse and inclusive workplace in the areas of talent management, workplace flexibility, professional and personal life integration, family friendly policies, security and safety, and standards of conduct as laid out in UN Women’s Enabling Environment Guidelines and Field Specific Enabling Environment Guidelines.
to recognize and make visible existing practices and projects/programmes that stand out in how they integrate a gender dimension in their work, whether through gender mainstreaming or targeted efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. This would include UNODC initiatives that utilize innovation and technology to reach vulnerable and marginalized populations, who are most likely to be left behind.
Nominations will be sent to a panel of six independent jurors, who will review and create a shortlist of nominations that are eligible for the Award. The whole panel is presented on the Gender Award website. Once the panel has created a shortlist, all UNOV/UNODC personnel will be invited to cast their vote and the winners will be awarded by the Director-General/Executive Director in the first quarter of 2022 during an Executive Committee meeting.
As well as being recognised by the Director-General/Executive Director, the winners will also receive recognition on the UNODC gender website, in the Gender Bulletin and HRMS Newsletter, and on UNODC social media channels.
We wish everyone the best of luck and thank you for your active participation!
