Create an alliance between EU-Nigerian #NextGen4Peace to enable young people to participate meaningfully and give peace-building a chance.
Young people can be a driving force in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of children formerly associated with terrorist and violent extremist groups by sharing understanding of their circumstances; and promoting acceptance within communities.
At #EYE2023, we demonstrate the power, innovation and dynamism of young people to engage meaningfully as we drive conversation on ‘#SeeTheChild: Youth as agents to protect children from terrorism and violent extremism’.
Building on the experience of the EU-UNODC STRIVE Juvenile project and the EU-led Youth Sounding Board Nigeria, the EYE2023 workshop brings together Nigerian and European youth to develop ideas on strategic action towards the effective rehabilitation and reintegration of children formerly associated with terrorist groups. Young activists will be inspired with the innovative idea that local security, achieved through youth engagement and intergenerational dialogue, inevitably promotes global peace.
