In accordance with paragraph 53 of the Procedures and rules for the functioning of the UNTOC review mechanism, the constructive dialogues with relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, will be convened following the conclusion of the working groups of the Conference of parties to promote fruitful engagement in the review process. The first series of dialogues will start in 2022.

General information

Objectives:

The objectives of the constructive dialogues are as follows:

  • Briefing participants on the development and outcomes of the review process;
  • Collecting inputs and suggestions from participants, including their contributions on ways to improve the implementation of the Convention and the Protocols thereto;
  • Cooperating with non-governmental organizations to combat transnational organized crime and to promote and review the implementation of this Convention, in accordance with article 32, paragraph 3 (c), of the Convention. 

Organizational arrangements:

The constructive dialogues will be conducted by the Chair of the respective working group, assisted by the Secretariat. The meetings will be held in English without interpretation.
Constructive dialogues are open to States parties and signatories, non-signatories, entities, intergovernmental organizations and relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, representatives of academia and the private sector.
A written summary of the discussions will be prepared by the Chair of the Working Group and be made available to the Working Group at its next session.

How to participate?

Pursuant to paragraph 53 of the Procedures and rules for the functioning of the UNTOC review mechanism participants from States parties and signatories, non-signatories, entities and intergovernmental organizations attending the working groups are also invited to the respective constructive dialogue, following the conclusion of the session of the relevant working group.

Constructive Dialogues on Smuggling of Migrants and Trafficking in Persons - Friday, 1 July 2022

Two constructive dialogues on the review process will be convened on Friday 1 July 2022, following the conclusion of the ninth session of the Working Group on Smuggling of Migrants and the twelfth session of the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons.   

Place, date and time

The meetings will take place from 10:00 until 13:00 and 15:00 until 18:00 Vienna time (CEST) on 1st July 2022 in a hybrid format, combining limited in-person participation at the Vienna International Center (Wagramer Strasse 5, 1220 Vienna) and online participation. The meetings will take place in Boardroom D, C-building, and online (using the Interprefy platform).
