Every year UNODC is able to promote drug use prevention and youth empowerment in many countries around the world, thanks to the work and generous donation of the Drug Abuse Prevention Center (DAPC), based in Japan. For three decades, UNODC has supported civil society organisations including non-governmental organisations and community-based organisations in low and middle-income countries on implementing substance use prevention activities that target and involve young people.
The DAPC Grants Programme aims to support civil society organisations initiate and scale-up evidence-based prevention activities for youth and with youth and empower young people to take more active roles in supporting the health and wellbeing of their peers. In fact, the youth from DAPC mobilises communities and raises funds that are donated to UNODC to support these activities in low and middle-income countries: this initiative is truly from youth to youth, for youth.
The UNODC Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section recently announced new projects that began implementation, which were selected from last year’s Call for Proposals. And now, UNODC is starting a new round with the launch of the Call for Proposals 2024. Interested applicants will find more information, including the Call for Proposals and relevant documents here. The deadline for application submission is 14 August 2024, 23:59 (Central European Summer Time, UTC+2h).
UNODC welcomes new partnerships with organisations that seek to meaningfully engage with youth on activities that will promote and advocate for evidence-based substance use prevention, in particular through youth-based peer-to-peer education or interactions.
